What are some free fun educational computer games for 5th through 8th graders?

The title asks the question. I run a computer lab and need some new educational computer games for my students. They have to be free. They can be puzzles, word games, word searches, math games, building games (like civilization), etc. I’d prefer that they were websites but they can also be programs too. My students are getting bored with what I have on the computers, so if anyone can list a few and where to get them I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Oooh FunBrain.com and PBSKids.com has a ton of good games for the younger grades. Scholastic and Discovery Channel are also great sites. My absolute favorite (and my kids too) is Gamequarium.com. This site has a ton of subjects in varying difficulty and is pretty fun for adults too.

Enjoy!! :)

I’m looking for some cooking recipes for something with Salmon?

Do you know any good ones? I have a vegetarian friend coming over tomorrow and he eats fish so I thought it would be nice of me to make something for him.
No, Ballarina she’s vegetarian. She doesn’t eat any meat.
I think you guys are confused. Fish and poultry are in their own categories. They aren’t meat. Vegetarians can eat fish and poultry.

No you’re confused.

Fish and poultry may ‘have their own categories’

But they still come from a dead animal.

Therefore, they are not vegetarian.

I know a person that is mentally retarded and even they can comprehend that.

Does my small business need to file a tax return?

I am a small business owner and have been developing my company for the past year. Because I left my previous job to start this business I do not have a current income and because my company only recently officially "opened for business" we do not have a profit line. Do I need to file? What about the business expenses that I incur?

Definitely keep track of your expenses. Most start-up expenses should be capitalized until operations begin. This means that you cannot deduct certain expenses until the date the business started, even if you paid them last year. Some expenses should be amortized over a period of time.

Business start-up costs are the expenses you incur before you actually begin business operations. Your business start-up costs will depend on the type of business you are starting. They may include costs for advertising, travel, surveys, and training. These costs are generally capital expenses.

You usually recover costs for a particular asset (such as machinery or office equipment) through depreciation (discussed next). You can elect to deduct up to $5,000 of business start-up costs and $5,000 of organizational costs paid or incurred after October 22, 2004. The $5,000 deduction is reduced by the amount your total start-up or organizational costs exceed $50,000. Any remaining cost must be amortized.

For more information about amortizing start-up and organizational costs, see chapter 9 in Publication 535.
