What is the best Philippine Tourism Website?
Currently, what do you think is the best Philippine Tourism Website out there and why?
If you believe that all the current ones are not that good what do you suggest should be done & how can people (especially Filipinos) be proactive in promoting & helping out?
The http://www.tourism.gov.ph/ is good; but, the Tourism Department can do better by updating it quarterly or biannually.
Other good tourism sites are the Philippines’ provincial and city websites where each province, town or city feature their main tourist attractions.
There are also websites created by volunteers who promote their locality’s main and not so popular attractions.
Here are some websites.

Agree with Tina and Jan-na on Ivan Henares and wayspoint.
There are also other sites to check out.

Still, the most effective way to promote our country is by word of mouth; and, how we conduct ourselves, as Filipinos, at home and in other countries.

What are the most important inventions, apart from the wheel and discovering fire, that have shaped the civilization – if not for which today’s society would be drastically different?
Thanks!
I meant a list of inventions, like sea/air travel, telephone, etc.
Thanks for the responses so far!

What players would be on the best soccer team in the entire world?
I merely want to see you create a soccer team of your most favorite soccer players from all around the world. I want you to make a team that couldn’t be beaten by any other team, not even once. You’re making a dream team, a worldwide all-star soccer team. (DON’T forget to show or tell a line-up also, I don’t want just a list of 11 players, but I want to know the positions)
RULES: you can use any player in the entire world THAT IS STILL PLAYING RIGHT NOW.
if you would put 11 star players in a team, that doesnt necesarily make it the best team…because they need to be able to play together…..
it has been proven so often in the past that the winning team is the one who has the best gelled group of players, with a few stars to bring that bit extra…..
How is the AP chemistry test different from the SAT chemistry subject test?
I’ve already take the AP chemistry test, and am going to take the SAT subject test soon. How should I study differently for this test, and should I get another study guide or will my AP book suffice?
If you already took the AP Chemistry Test & did good (Or think you did good) then the SAT Subject Test will be a shoe-in for you.
They do ask different questions topic-wise.
But yeah the SAT Subject Test is wayyyy easier than the AP exam.
I’m pretty sure you have to do more math on the AP exam than on the Subject Test, so that’s one difference.
Don’t worry if you did really good in your AP class & know the material well.
If you do you’ll probably get in the 700’s for the Subject test.
What are the best shopping areas in Washington state?
I am going to visit the state of Washington, and am planning on doing some shopping along the way. What are the best areas with some really great boutiques? Any suggestions as to which stores I MUST stop by?
Southcenter (now called Westfield) is my favorite, and has almost everything. I like SuperMall, too, but it’s a bit small.
If you’re looking for some unique places, then Pike’s Place has some REALLY awesome little shops and booths. Not to mention that it’s a very important Seattle right of passage.
I don’t know of any shootings at Southcenter… that was at the Commons.

Could vegetables from my home garden become infected with salmonella from turtles that I keep in the backyard?
Posted by admin in House and Home on August 30, 2010
I keep my turtles in a pin next to my vegetable garden and haven’t worried about the possibility of getting sick until the recent jalapeno scare.
You say, “Could?”
If they are water turtles – and you have fed them raw meat or chicken that was infected with the bacterium – there is a possibility of cross contamination.
If they defecate on the soil in which the vegetables are growing – and their stool is contaminated – the possibility exists.
Or if there is run-off from the water they swim in – and the water is contaminated – the possibility exists.
Or if you use their swimming water (literally their toilet) to water your plants – the possibility exists – IF THERE IS CONTAMINATION from Mr. and Mrs. Sal Monella.
If you keep them in a “pen” and they are land turtles you are feeding fruits, vegetables and whatever insects/worms they can find – the chances are highly UNLIKELY and I wouldn’t worry.

Cloth Vs. Disposable Diapers? 1st 3 months and the first two years?
Posted by admin in Environmental on August 30, 2010
From experienced parents, what are the pros and cons of cloth and disposable diapers? I’m looking to keep my child as comfortable as possible, doing a minimal amount of harm to the environment, and save myself money and stress.
We will be staying in our tiny one-bedroom apartment for the first 3 months with laundry available about 100 feet away across the courtyard. After that, there’s no guarantee that the place we move to will have laundry in our home (we’re going into the Army–well, my husband is).
I’ve used both, cloth are better.
I have 20 diapers, they lasted about 2 days with a newborn and last about 3 with my 1.5 year old.
Pros:
-Cheaper in the long-run. To have your own stash takes a bit of up-front cash, a couple hundred for a good stash and accessories, but you can trim this down by buying used or in bulk.
Using cloth diapers is not cheaper if you use a diaper service. Diaper services tend to be very expensive and not many cities have them. Buying your own is the best way to use cloth.
-Nice soft fabrics.
-No excess in chemicals.
-Less rashes. The only rash my daughter has ever had was a yeast rash from thrush and reaction rash to a different detergent.
-Less stink. Disposables reek, and the smell lingers. Tossing cloths in a nice lidded can keeps smells in. You’d never know I have diapers in my house.
-Less mess.
-Less leaks. I’ve never had a leak in a cloth diaper, I’ve been using them for nearly 18 months.
-Environmentally friendly. Kind of. It depends on local water recycling policies, what sort of detergent you use, what water temperatures you wash in, if you line dry or tumble. So, it could be a really green choice for you, or it could not really matter. Either way, it keeps a couple thousand disposables out of landfills and that counts for something.
-Modern pocket and AIO diapers are grandma/daddy/babysitter friendly. Most day cares won’t refuse to use them. Why would they? They’re the same as a toss away, you just toss it in a bag to send home instead of the trash.
-It’s easier to potty-teach toddlers in cloth diapers. They can feel the wetness on their skin and this makes them uncomfortable, they’ll learn the potty much more willingly and quickly.
-They really are very cute.
-You can get one-size diapers that will fit from newborn to toddlerhood. So, one stash can fit multiple kids and last them the entire time they’re in diapers.
Cons:
-The up-front cost can be significant if buying a stash of brand-name one-size pocket diapers.
-You do need to change the baby more often, since they can feel the wetness you can’t put off a diaper change like so many do. I personally don’t see this as a con, but many would so I mention it.
-You need to be aware of your laundry routine. Too much detergent can ruin your diapers, so can not enough so it takes a bit to get used to for some people.
-You can’t use any old rash cream if rashes do happen, most will ruin absorbency of cloth diapers, so you need to be aware of that as well.
-The one-size diapers can be bulky and distort the look of clothing. It’s nice to have some fitteds or prefolds and covers on hand for special occasions when baby should look perfect, like photos.
That’s pretty much it.
To cloth diaper on the cheap, look at the Flip and Econobum kits here: http://www.cottonbabies.com/
Good information here: http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com/basics.htm
I get my diapers here: http://www.jilliansdrawers.com/
The customer service is wonderful and their prices are reasonable. They often have gently used and discontinued items for very low prices. They also have a "try before you buy" package. They let you try cloth diapers for 21 days. If you like them, you keep them and send them the difference. If they’re not for you then just return them and they’ll refund you $100 of your $110 deposit. A very good kit if you’re on the fence.
As a sidenote, my husband was against the idea of cloth diapers. Not because of cost or anything but because he thought it would be a huge hassle.
He’s _very_ happy we got them. He has no trouble using them at all and he also suggests them to friends when they ask.
Also, there’s a lot of information around suggesting long involved laundry routines, I don’t actually suggest you ignore them, but. I will tell you that I’ve put my diapers through one cold wash cycle with a normal cold rinse cycle in regular detergent with no ill effect on my diapers.
I’ll never use another disposable diaper if I don’t need to.
ETA: Also, it doesn’t have to be an either or thing. You can use both and use whichever is convenient for you at the time (ex: cloth during days, disposable overnight or when out). I have a personal preference for all cloth all the time, that doesn’t mean you have to follow suit.
