PDA Phone – Why Are They The Next Trend In The Mobile Computers World?

Only a few years ago, the PDA concept was introduced for the first time. The first Palm Pilot’s his the market and millions of people were hoped right away. The combination of a personal electronic organizes along with a powerful computer was a great solution for many people who were looking to get more done without sitting down with their lap-top or desk-top computers.

Later on, the wireless PDA’s were introduced, causing even more stir, and the PDA’s became even more sophisticated, allowing their users to surf the web wirelessly, download and send e-mail’s and the like.

But then – the wind shifted.

It had became apparent the PDA’s could not replace the notebook computers, that were getting thinner, lighter and cheaper, while offering the users the same abilities of a regular PC, but in a mobile fashion. A PDA, as good as it can be, can’t replace a PC.
So at this time, the PDA industry was standing at a crossroad. It had to make the right choice in order to survive.
And what we got as an answer to he notebook computer was the PDA, also known as the smart phone. This was a smart move, as it addressed people’s needs. Let’s take a look at a few reasons to own and use a smart phone:

1.You already use a cell phone, and you probably own a PDA (or intent to buy one). So why not combine the two? You get two in one – more value for your dollars.
2.You’ll probably save hundreds of dollar in future years, when you will want to upgrade your PDA phone. You will only need to upgrade one device instead of two (PDA and a cell phone separately)
3.Save time – Owning two tools that have so many over lapping function is time consuming. For example, It’s much easier to maintain just one email account and addresses instead of one of them at your cell phone and one at your PDA.
4.Many cell phones are limited in their memory capacity and their overall ability to handle various tasks. The PDA’s however, were created for these missions. The PDA phone therefore is a phone with a huge capacity for handling almost anything. This just makes your life a lot easier.
5.Integration – The biggest reason for merging these two vital tools is to enjoy the benefits of integration. You’ll be able to organize your calendar, talk to your clients, download emails, surf the web, and listen to an mp3 music file all at the same place without needing to switch appliances.

The PDA phone is a very logical choice for everyone who is trying to get more out of his day and save time and money. It really makes no sense to be carrying both a PDA and a cell phone around when you can have both in one.

How to limit internet speed to specific computers on a network?

My household network consists of a router and 3 other computers connected to it. If I wanted to limit the download speed of a certain computer, what should I do? I can completely remove access to a computer in the router settings, but I only want to remove the power to Bit torrent for that computer.

Okay. to do such a thing you would need a higher class router.

You are looking into very advanced interfaces to do such a thing, and routers that can do that. are not regular all homes routers.

Another way, cheaper and free. is get utorrent.

www.utorrent.com

It lets you set how much "internet" or bandwidth you want the program to use.

Even for uploads.

So you can set it to maybe 100 kpbs for download, and 20 for upload. Doesn’t affect anything but what u just told it to.

Good luck

Desktop Customization – Tidying your Computers Desktop

There are heaps of beautiful wallpaper designs available on the web, many of them are the work of some very clever and imaginative digital artists.

But when it comes to photo wallpaper, even though the choice is still huge, the vast majority of images cover your desktop with a beautiful image, only for you to then go and clutter up the image with all your desktop icons.

If, like me you frequently drop useful shortcuts on the desktop whilst you are surfing, or you like to organise your work space with all your favourite and most often used program icons easily to hand, you are likely to end up with the effect of that stunning landscape photo completely destroyed with a messy colection of shortcuts which you can’t see very well because they are lost against the backgrond image. Sounds familiar?

Well, I’m going to show you how you can overcome this problem by making your own customized desktop wallpaper, that will give you both a pretty image to grace your computer, as well as areas where you can neatly keep your icons together, easily visible and identifiable. (To help you understand what we are aiming for, take a look at these examples)

First of all you will need two things: your favourite (digital or scanned) photo, and some sort of photo editing software.

Start your photo editing program and locate and open your chosen photograph file. What size (in pixels) is the image? Look at the file info, or the status bar, or image heading, of your editing program to find this. For the purpose of this excercise we’ll assume that your PC desktop is set at a resolution (screen size) of 1024 x 768, which is probably the most common choice at the moment. (To change the size of your desktop/screen resolution: right click on your desktop – choose properties – then the “settings” tab, which will present you with the available size choices for your monitor).

So, with a screen size of 1024 x 768 pixels, alter the dimensions of your image to exactly match these dimensions.
Warning: don’t change both height and width, or you may end up with a distorted image unless the original size is proportionate to 1024 x 768. What you should do is to alter the image width, OR, the height, until you have an image which is the same on one edge, and either the same, or larger on the other edge. Then using the crop tool in your image editor, carefully select enough of the image to match exactly 1024 x 768 pixels.

OK. So now you have your basic background image. Here’s the important part: Look at your chosen image and decide which area, or areas, ar e the least important visually. It may be that the bottom of the image doesn’t contain any important detail, or vital part of the scene. Or maybe a part of one side, or the other could be sacrificed without spoiling the overall impact?

Keep in mind that you’re not going to completely lose this part of the image – just “ghost” it. What this entails is lowering the image contrast, while raising the brightness, a little at a time until you have a ghosted image in which you can still see the picture but more “dimly” than before. These “ghosted” panels are where you are going to place your icons, so that they stand out much better than before. With careful choice of image and where you place the “ghosted” panels, you can create a very attractive and functional desktop wallpaper.

Back to the actual process: use the selection tool to create a panel, or indeed more than one, at the part(s) of the image you have chosen to “ghost”. Now, for each panel at a time, use the contrast and brightness tools, as described above, to alter just the selected area(s). When you are satisfied with the degree of gHosting, you can further enhance your design by adding an outline to the panel, and/or a drop shadow.

When you are happy with the overall design. Save the image as a JPEG file with a bit of compression but not too much if you want to keep the quality reasonably high (a quality setting of about 85%, or level 10 in Photoshop, will do).

Now you are ready to add this wallpaper to your PC’s library of wallpapers: to do this right click on your desktop -> choose properties -> then the “Desktop” tab -> then click “Browse” and locate the file you just saved, and finally click OK. Your editing software may have a command for setting the image as your wallpaper more quickly, but keep in mind you might have trouble finding it again if you subsequently change to a different wallpaper.

With your new design loaded on your desktop, you now have to arrange your icons within the panel(s) you made. To make this easier, what I do is to right-click the desktop and then -> “arrange icons by”-> “align to grid” first, then drag and drop the icons to approximately where you want them, leaving “align to grid” to tidy up your rows and columns, then, if your collection of icons doesn’t quite align with the panel(s), deselect “align to grid”, use the mouse pointer to select a box all around the icons you want to move, then drag the whole tidy pile to where you want them to sit.
(Tip: when de-selecting “align to grid” be careful NOT to accidentally select the next item above: “auto align” or all
your carefull arrangements will be undone!)

Et voila! (that’s French!) There you are, your first TidyDesktop completed.

The Top 5 Reasons Why our Computers Crash

1.Viruses
This is one of the most reason computer crash whether you normal or professional computer user you must have faced viruses problems before, The first sign of a virus infection is instability, Some viruses delete the boot sector of a hard drive, making it impossible to boot.

Well it’s better to protect yourself in the first place a good antivirus should help you detect any viruses on your computer and prevent any other problem this virus may cause, the most important thing about any antivirus is that you must update it daily there are new viruse everyday, and antivirus without update worth nothing.
There are many free and paid antiviruse, so make sure you search and ask other people before you buy it.

2. Cheap Ram

Ram problems might bring on the blue screen of death (BSOD)with a message saying Fatal Exception Error. A fatal error indicates a serious hardware problem. Sometimes it may mean a part is damaged and will need replacing.

But a fatal error caused by cheap ram and if you bought brand computer like dell, hp, Toshiba probably you won’t have this problem but in case you bought everything and assemble it by yourself you should make sure that you buy good and brand ram don’t look for cheap ones.

3. BIOS settings

Every motherboard is supplied with a range of chipset settings that are decided in the factory. Once inside the BIOS, great care should be taken. Try to remember or write down all the settings that you have made. That way, if you change something and the computer becomes more unstable, you will know what settings to revert to.

4. Hard disk drives

After a few weeks, the information on a hard disk drive starts to become piecemeal or fragmented. It is a good idea to defragment the hard disk every week, to prevent the disk from causing a screen freeze.

Use windows Disk Defragmenter tool Evey week to keep the information in your hard disk in good condition, Also it’s a good idea to schedule the procedure for a period of inactivity using the Task Scheduler.

5. Software

A common cause of computer crash is faulty or badly-installed software. The System Registry can be corrupted by old references to obsolete software that you thought was uninstalled. Use Reg Cleaner  software  to clean up the System Registry and remove obsolete entries.

Read the instructions and use it carefully so you don’t do permanent damage to the Registry. If the Registry is damaged you will have to reinstall your operating system.

Often a Windows problem can be resolved by entering Safe Mode. and then you can restore windows to its latest status this should solve the problem

Learning the Windows Tricks necessary can be difficult however, which is why you need a good Computer Tips website to help you along the path.

Ctc for Computer Peripheral Shopping – Hyderabad Computers

A walk past the famed Paradise circle in Secunderabad into Parklane brings us to the de-facto personal computer and laptop accessories market, the Chenoy Trade Centre (or CTC as it is often referred to). This building was originally just like any regular commercial complex consisting mainly of clothing stores. Later in time it even became a residential complex. But soon it was back to what it started with – a commercial hub.

What can you look for…

This centre houses all computer peripherals that you can think of. No wonder then that it is even compared with the Lamington Road in Mumbai or Nehru Place in Delhi. The CTC has a poor cousin in the form of a few stores at the Gujarati Galli in Koti. But then nothing compares to this in the city.

The market started with sales only in hardware and assembled computers. Later on it even became the hub of pirated software till the dealers became authorised resellers. Now the complex is a one-stop-shop for new purchases, maintenance and repairs. In fact, if you don’t find a computer-related accessory at CTC, it probably is not available anywhere else in the city.

Tips for Shopping…

  • Most of the stores offer fair prices but bargaining is not a bad idea.
  • For software, buy from authorised dealers or buy hardware that comes bundled with software.
  • It is always good to plan a purchase and then visit this place. So do your research online or refer to any Indian computer magazine as dealer recommendations here are usually to push products on which their commissions are higher.
  • The market is closed on public holidays and Sundays, so schedule your visits for weekdays only.
  • Hindi, Telugu and English work with equal effectiveness so language should not be a problem.
  • Parking space is quite difficult to find for cars so be prepared to park near Paradise and get ready for the walk.
  • Ask for home installations for new PC purchases. For upgrades take your PC along with you for the best service.
  • Though most dealers accept credit cards they charge 2.5 % extra.
  • For refilling printer cartridges ask for a test print.
  • Ask for warranty and guarantee details.

How to make your computer boot up like the library computers?

The computers at my library make it so you can install anything and download stuff but when the computer is restarted everything is back to the original stuff and it is clean. Is there software or something to do this?

That would use a specialized disk-protection program that is set to reverse ANY changes that occurs on the hard drive and reset it back during restart or logout.

ome examples of such programs include Deep Freeze and Clean Slate.

How can I get rid of the computers that are showing connected to my computer on my pc trendcillin program?

My trendcillin program scans the computer routinely for viruses and spyware. This list keeps popping up saying that there are several computers showing up linked to my computer. Does this affect anything and how do I stop it? When I go to do not trust it doesnt remove them from the list saying they are connected!

Well, for a start, you will be connected to your ISP’s server, so you don’t want to disconnect that one.

If you run MSN Messenger or some of messenger program, that will be maybe another couple of connections.

I’ve just looked on my PC, and I have 60 open connections to other computers. I am not connected to any network, just have my broadband access to my home.

If you open a DOS window (Start->Run, type ‘cmd’ in the box for Windows XP, type ‘command’ in the box for some older versions of windows.) and type the command "netstat", it will show all open connections. You can also type "netstat 5" to make it refresh every 5 seconds (CTRL-C to stop).

These connections are normal. If you shutdown all your internet programs, and see more than 5 or 6 of these listed, and can’t figure out what they are, then you may have unwanted software running, so run an anti-spyware scan.
