How can I lose weight when diet and exercise don’t work?

On the Slimming world diet, go to the gym and swim, plus daily exercises. My thyroid level within normal range. Gone from size 10 to size 22 in five years, and continuing to gain. Am desperate!

A great book: "Jump Start Your Metabolism: How to Lose Weight by Changing the Way You Breathe," by Pam Grout. The title says it all.
Instead of torturing yourself with a diet mentality (one that is obsessively concerned with what goes into your body), focus instead on the other half of the equation (how your body eliminates fat, toxins and weight through metabolism).

How can I lose weight with PCOS?

Im 26 years old, I have been trying to lose weight for a few years since I started putting on the weight from PCOS. I weigh 135lbs & Im only 5 feet tall. I love to exercise & I eat healthy (as recommended by my doctor), however, I just can’t seem to lose the weight. I’ve tried kick boxing, aerobics, elepticals, walking, free weights, resistance bands, exercise dvd’s I stay active on the weekends by kayaking but nothing helps. I still weigh the same & I haven’t lost any inches. I don’t know exactly what to do & my doctor isnt sure whats going on either. She tried putting me on metformin to regulate my mentrual cycle & to help me lose weight but that didn’t work either. Its frustrating to me because I had always exercised on a regular basis & was very lean & toned until my PCOS started kicking in at age 22. I still exercised & ate healthy yet I was gaining weight.
Anyone with PCOS out there that has similar issues or that has found a way to over come this & has lost any weight?
I forgot to add…I do count calories & I do calculate all that burning & intake. I also do not eat many carbs (bigger than my fist) & No processed foods.

How to lose weight?. Ten Points Best Answer…?

I’m 12 years old I’m trying to lose weight. I don’t want to become an anorexic which is why I’m going for diet and exercise. I’m not "fat" its more like I’m bigger than average and when i get older I don’t want to regret not putting of the weight when i was younger ’cause its much easier to do it now than later.

P.S. I’m trying out for the cross country team in Sept. so running is a must but for how long should I run for?

Weight isn’t really the concern. It has more to do with body fat, in my opinion. The best way to lose that and keep your metabolism at a good pace is to eat about 400 less calories than your daily needs and eat 5-6 small meals a day. I would also do 30 mins of cardio 3-4 times a week, in the mornings before any food is eaten, and do weight training 3 times a week in the afternoons or whenever you have the time to do it. It will not bulk you up, but will ensure you burn more calories just sitting still than you did beforehand. Keep away from junk food and drink plenty of water daily. This will ensure you lose the fat but maintain your lean body mass (muscle, water weight, bascially your weight without the fat),
