My household network consists of a router and 3 other computers connected to it. If I wanted to limit the download speed of a certain computer, what should I do? I can completely remove access to a computer in the router settings, but I only want to remove the power to Bit torrent for that computer.
Okay. to do such a thing you would need a higher class router.
You are looking into very advanced interfaces to do such a thing, and routers that can do that. are not regular all homes routers.
Another way, cheaper and free. is get utorrent.
www.utorrent.com
It lets you set how much "internet" or bandwidth you want the program to use.
Even for uploads.
So you can set it to maybe 100 kpbs for download, and 20 for upload. Doesn’t affect anything but what u just told it to.
Good luck

An alternative solution is to actually use that PC you want to limit downloading speed and download and install a bandwidth limiting software on that PC.
You can search Yahoo for software like that. Bandwidth Limiter is such a program.
