What are yours educational and vocational plans?
(poll for my statistics class)
basically, your educational and career plans, why you choose that job, be as specific as possible about Careers you’ve selected, what universities or educational institutions you hope to attend, and the reasons for your choice
Thanks in advance!!!
Thank you so much for the first person who answered my question. You are very descriptive, which is good.
I’m currently a senior in high school, 16 years of age, female.
I plan on getting at least an undergraduate in Physics. The plan after that would be to follow up through my doctorate. I used to be more interested in Computer Science, but I prefer its application to theoretical work. Thus, I hope to do some sort of interdisciplinary work with physics and computer science – obviously, they are strongly connected nowadays.
Once I have done this, I’d like to either work semi-commercially or go into academia and research. If it is the former, I think I would like working for Wolfram Research or Nasa. It would all depend on how things play out.
I don’t know exactly which institute I will attend. I do have a strong interest in Rice University, though.
Why do I want to go on this little road map for life? Because I like solving puzzles and being challenged, and because I get satisfaction from doing math and thinking differently than most people. I am attracted to the sciences because I have a deep respect for observable phenomena. I imagine it would be great to be a physicist. I also think I could add to the field. But the most important thing is that I enjoy solving physics problems and thinking deeply about the physical world.
Hope this helps with your survey…
Suggest some everyday Indian/English recipes on microwave for daily cooking.?
I am an indian who will be working in Oxford for 10 weeks. i’ll have to cook my own dinner after a long day at work. suggest some Healthy easy to cook recipes that i can enjoy cooking and eating alike ![]()
Help me with some good pasta, chicken and enjoyable recipes, for cooking after office hours.
i’ll have a room in a family and a kitchen to cook in.
Is a Microwave the only thing you have to cook with? If so then I’ll assume you will be in a resident hotel for 10 weeks with a Micro and a small refrigerator. Focus on two main products that can be used in different ways, Chicken (whole) and Beef (roasted), both of which you’ll be able to make anything from a hot meal to a quick sandwich. Both can be purchased in whole, cooked at a market and stored in your fridge to use as needed, when you check-in make sure you have utensils, knife, spoon, fork. For a change you can Micro some fish that you buy fresh along with veggies and also precooked potato’s and rice. Everything you could want is at the market and ready to heat and serve without buying "TV" dinners. I spend alot of time on the road also, I’ve even made a grilled cheese sandwich with the clothes Iron in my room. Good Luck, take the time and have some fun.
Computer assistance with linknig two computers to the same internet connection?
We are trying to connect two computers with the same internet connection but it is not working. We have tried with a youtube tutorial and help from our mom’s friend. Does anyone know how to help us? We have a compaq computer desktop (not sure of the year) and a 2002 desktop computer. If anyone knows how to help please help. Thanks!
IF you have internet from a cable company you already have a "router" you can just use a Cat5 (internet) cable and plug in…IF you only have one internet connector on your router get this..http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127083.
you simply plug your internet cable from the router to this, then get two cables and put them to this and the two computers. you will have two slots extra for expansion…OR..if you have a "network" printer, you could connect it to the switch so both computers can use the one printer.
Do you need a business license if you have a business degree?
I have created a business but want to be sure all of my t’s are crossed and all of my i’s are dotted. I have a business degree, I want to be sure I do not have to back it up with a business license? Some people have advised me to get one just to be on the safe side.
Most states require you to have a business license, because most insurance companies require it. And usually if your in business you have to have insurance. … its the law, in most states. So if I were you I’d go to your local "Better Business Bureau" in your town, and ask !!!! It’s always better to have your eggs all in one basket. Do your skilled homework. You do remember homework .. right??
Good Luck.
What can be done about colleges overcharging for the service they provide?
College costs have risen ahead of inflation for the past 30 years and today the annual cost to attend a US school (out of state/private) hovers at $35 – $50K+ per year. Anyone who has looked at these costs immediately learns that after the college hits you with a $40K bill to educate junior this year they talk about the lavish amounts of money they have to offer based on their determination of need and merit. Many college endowments have swollen to the 10s of billions of $$. Clearly Colleges are overcharging for the service they provide and then use their own determination to decide how to redistribute the money you pay. There are no checks and balances in the system to stop this fleecing. It’s no different than an entrepreneur with a monopoly gouging consumers and then taking the huge profits and setting up scholarships that she/he thinks are worthy… and this is happening at 1000s of schools. What can/should consumers do to stop this form of social engineering by the academic elite?
Just to clarify. My question is not about the (obviously) absurd cost of a college education. My question is what can consumers do to begin to counteract what has become a means of social engineering in our culture by the academic elite. They decide who is worthy to afford an education. They decide what diversity mix is "right" etc. There is no social counterbalance as there should be in a democractic society. Schools fleece consumers for huge sums and are accountable only to themselves. There is no alternative to higher education. So what’s the answer?
Don’t blame the "academic elite." Blame the legislatures that don’t provide adequate funding to state institutions, preventing most of them from being a truly cost-effective alternative. Blame the dysfunctional public school systems at the elementary and secondary level that convince parents they have to pay private school tuition to secure a good education for their children long before college. Blame the luxuries like campus-wide wireless Internet access that students have come to see as necessities (in no small part because they see themselves as "consumers" rather than students), which eat up those big endowments. There are a lot of things you can blame, but simple greed isn’t one of them.
